Evaluation Guidelines

Scoring Rubrics

Scoring rubrics are the backbone of consistent, fair, and transparent accreditation assessment. Accrely provides customizable rubric templates aligned with BAC guidelines to standardize how criteria are evaluated.

What is a Rubric?

A rubric defines the performance levels and corresponding mark ranges for each criterion. It ensures that every assessor — whether PSAC, IQAC, or BAC — evaluates programs using the same standards, eliminating subjectivity and inconsistency.

Rubric Structure

Each rubric in Accrely includes:

  • Performance Levels: Typically 4–5 levels (e.g., Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Needs Improvement, Unsatisfactory).
  • Mark Ranges: Numerical score ranges mapped to each performance level.
  • Descriptors: Clear descriptions of what evidence is required to achieve each level.
  • Weighting: Relative importance of each criterion within its parent standard.

CAR Feedback Framework

Alongside numerical scores, Accrely uses the CAR (Commendation — Affirmation — Recommendation) framework for qualitative feedback:

  • ✅ Commendation: What the program does exceptionally well.
  • ✅ Affirmation: What meets the expected standards.
  • ✅ Recommendation: Areas needing improvement with actionable suggestions.
